Team Villa makes a toast to Angelo and their big win by Stephanie Manhit | April 21, 2010 8:48 AM | Share this article One of the main things going against Angelo was his too-serious personality. It tends to isolate the rest and sends out an air of self-righteousness that just doesn’t make for friendly conversation. The major prize for this week’s task was a check for Php 10,000. It may not have been much for the Apartment teens, but it meant survival for most of those in the Villa household. Each team got to pick a worthy beneficiary of the money, and Team Villa decided that Angelo was the most deserving. After bagging three consecutive wins, Team Villa happily offered the check to Angelo. The gesture moved Angelo to tears, something that he was uncomfortable with. The others convinced him that it was but natural to cry, but understood that Angelo’s past made crying a luxury. Left alone, Angelo stared at the check before him, set beside a framed picture of his mom. It was then that he allowed tears to flow freely, addressing his mom. Happy as he was inside the house, he couldn’t help but worry about his family. “Sa bawat pagkain ko, iniisip ko kung kumakain kayo diyan.” His family remains his inspiration. He hopes that his family could see his sacrifices and that he would make them proud someday. Little did he know that at that very moment, the rest of his housemates were in the Confession Room, planning an impromptu celebration for him. On their return, they dragged him out of his drama and held a Wowowee-inspired game. They began with a Boomtarat dance to loosen him up, and followed it up with a modified Hep-hep-hooray game where they had to say “Pinoy” and “Big Brother” instead. Angelo won this game and moved on to another one where he had to pick a bowl. Imagine his surprise when he opened it and saw a bundle of cash! As it turned out, the Villa teens encashed his check to be able to give him a feel of the actual cash. He ended his thank you speech with some things that he learned: “(Kailangan) Magpakatatag, huwag mawalan ng pag-asa.” Kyra and Maichel followed him inside the room as he kept his newfound wealth. Kyra advised him to start a business with it and spend it wisely. That way, his family would have a steady source of income. Another thing that she noted was the stronger friendship formed among them because of their efforts to get him the prize. The one who gained a lot from it, aside from Angelo, was probably Tricia. Earlier, Tricia disappeared into the Confession Room and had some one-on-one with Kuya. When she went out, she headed towards the pool where Shey and Eslove were. The first thing she said was “thank you”. She claimed that she learned a lot of things from them, about herself and about life. “Mahirap ang buhay, pero masaya.” Things have certainly seemed to warm up a bit more after Shey’s frank commentary. Exchanges among the Villa teens extended to her more, and Shey was starting to call her “beh” too, as she did with Devon. Will Tricia be able to sustain the change, and have the Villa girls accepted her in their circle? Will Angelo be able to loosen up more and start enjoying his stay in Kuya’s house?
